'Sticks & stones may break my bones
but words will never hurt me.
What happens when I keep hearing
these words every day of the week.
At some point in time, I start to feel
like maybe these things are true.
If I am what I am, what you say I am
then I guess I am less than you.
I can't go another day hearing the things
that are said aloud & whispered among me.
If I'm in a better place, where there is no hate
then the world can go on without me.
I just wanted to love, I just wanted to live
but you've giving me no other choice.
Just stop the hate, in this lonely place,
someone please hear my voice.'
I just wrote that in honor of the children & teens who get bullied because of who they are or what they are. Bullying is becoming so bad that kids feel they have no way out but to kill themselves and that is so ridiculous. I'm sure we've all been the subject of some school bullying but it was never to the point to where we'd want to kill ourselves. Some people can't take 'criticism' and harsh words thrown at them, especially everyday. Do bullies even take the time out to see how this would make them feel if they were in the other person's shoes? No.
Bullying doesn't make you look cool, it doesn't make you more popular, it just makes you look like maybe you can't handle the person that you are that's why you have to take it out on someone else. The choices you make doesn't affect you, it affects everyone. Whether your children are being bullied or are the ones doing the bullying, at some point the PARENTS are going to have to step in and do something about it. Talk to your children about this, because this is a serious matter that just keeps getting swept under the rug. Nobody likes to be picked on and no one likes to be talked about in a negative light, so before your children start, nip it in the bud right now.
